Simulators are now compatible with GIMP thanks to the layers update! GIMP is a FREE alternative to Photoshop, with many of the same features and functionality! The Simulators are compatible with both Photoshop and GIMP. Check out GIMP: www.gimp.org
So are you a theme creator/maker, but you don't have all of the devices to test your themes out on? This is the ideal spot to find a theme simulator that you can open up your themes to more than just one community!
We have simulators for the Sidekick LX 2009, Sidekick 2008, Sidekick LX, Sidekick Slide, and even the Sidekick 3!
Basically, each simulator comes with a complete replica of the default layout on the device, only it is editable. This is a great visual aid to help you through the process, as everything is in the exact spot you would need to place your new content on.
Open the file in Photoshop (www.photoshop.com) or GIMP (www.gimp.org), and you will see many layers, and one locked layer, that should be kept locked unless you need to add in custom icons. All you have to do is delete those layers that are unnecessary (all but the one locked in most cases), and then throw in all of your content until it looks exactly how you envisioned it. Once everything is in correct positions, simply save it as a JPEG*, and then upload your theme to the sites with a FAKE screenshot that is unnoticeable to the naked eye.
* JPEG is the only file format accepted by the themes sites as screenshots, mainly because thats the format of the normal screenshots, and it takes up the least amount of server space.
There is no limit to how many times you can download the simulators, so feel free to download as you wish, just be sure to grab both the main screen and the sub screen simulators for the device. We don't as that you credit us in any major way except for referring other users to the simulator, but you can credit us if you feel obligated to do so!
A HUGE thanks to silversidekick fatb0yslim33 and prash for their assistance in making these simulators possible. With their help, now all of us can open our themes to the communities of the LX09, 2008, LX, Slide, and the 3!

Now you can create themes and make screenshots with the Sidekick LX09 Theme Simulators! This simulator is very unique, in that it even mirrors the translucent title bar that the new device and OS provides. Over time, we will be improving the simulator to be even more authentic. We've included two backgrounds so that you are able to see how it looks with both a dark and light background behind it.
